587 High Blood Sugar - Really

You say people wouldn't be alive...well I am...and my reading is 587 after breakfast (eggs). This is not abnormal for me and they are working to help me get the number under control. I average over 400 after a meal.
I wonder if I had insurance if they would work a little harder with me...no matter what I say that I will pay whatever and not to worry about test or what needs to be done...they still don't seem to do much and are afraid of the cost to me...I'm afraid of the after effect of taking too long!!
