Diabetes Recipes - Great Tasting Food!
We have compiled some of the best diabetes recipes available today and will be adding dozens more over the course of the year. You will find that the options are varied, just like if you didn't have diabetes.
There is a general theme of the recipes. We try to reduce sugar and refined grains as much as possible. You will find this most evident in the dessert recipes. Additionally, we look to reduce fat, particularly saturated fat. Often this means buying a better cut of meat.
Most telling, we have many diabetic vegetarian recipe choices. These are both in the slow cooker section and the vegetarian recipe section. PLEASE, do not discount these recipes. They are arguably your best opportunity to eat healthy and even reverse your diabetes symptoms (look for more articles on this site over the next year regarding this subject).
Slow Cooker Recipes

I love my slow cooker. To borrow from Ron Popiel - "Fix It and Forget It!" Combine a whole bunch of ingredients, come back in about 8 hours and you have a great meal. Awesome! Many of the following diabetes recipes are old classics, with a little healthy twist. Others are new, but still great.

Vegetarian Recipes
Lately, the vegetarian and vegan diets have received tremendous scientific support for preventing diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease and many other negative health conditions. There is even strong support that following these diets can "reverse" diabetes.
Meaning, you can often reduce or eliminate your need for blood sugar lowering medications. Even Type 1 diabetics can achieve better blood sugar control and possibily lower the amount of insulin needed.
Wow! This is pretty strong claims. We will be writing more on this topic over the next year. However, you may want to consider speaking with your doctor or nutritionist about this type of diet.
However, you don't need to go ALL IN! Try a couple of these vegetarian diabetes recipes. You may actually like them! For the dedicated page on Diabetic Vegetarian Recipes follow the link.

Diabetic Casserole Recipes
Who doesn't like Shepard's Pie? Well, we have a healthier take on the old favorite. We also added an Eggplant casserole recipe, as well. Either of these dishes are very good. Both Diabetic Casserole Recipes can be found here.
Diabetic Dessert Recipes

The Diabetes recipes here are our take on traditional desserts. It would be better if you grabbed a piece of fruit than a piece of cake, but on special occassions it is nice to have a more traditional option.
We use more whole wheat flower than normal recipes and we use a lot of stevia. Stevia has a slightly different taste, but the health benefits are much better than traditional processed white sugar.
You can read all about the benefits of whole wheat flower and stevia on the dedicated Diabetic Dessert Recipes page. Or, just follow the links below directly to the recipe you are interested in making.
