Diabetic Apple Pie Recipe
Scrumptious diabetic apple pie recipe! So good, the apples seem to melt in your mouth! Let's start baking.
Creating a pie that is suitable for the diabetic diet is one of the hardest cooking challenges. Often the filling is overly sweet or full of carbohydrates.
However, the pie crust itself is where the challenge really lies.
A Note on the Crust. We scoured many recipes, but ultimately settled on a store bought crust. Depending upon what type of pie you are making, the
Keebler Ready Crust, Shortbread or the Reduced Fat Graham Cracker is our first choice. They are pretty close to being the same caloric, carbohydrate, etc. count.
No other recipe from scratch seemed to stand out.
Also, while we have stuck with the traditional 8 servings per pie, you may want to stretch it to 10 servings, as pies are packed with calories! Sorry.
Now on to the recipe!
