Diet Soda Mania

I don't know if you would call this a great story..
I am one of those people that drink a lot of diet soda. I have actually lost weight... perhaps playing golf 3 to 4 times a week might also have something to do with that.
But, I would guess that I drink at least 12 cans a day. Nonetheless, I feel so dehydrated most of the time. I also sweat profusely when I am out on the golf course, but being in south Florida in 96 degree heat probably helps.
I don't know if being anemic has anything to do with it, but i write it all off to having diabetes.
I use to weigh 245 lbs, now I weigh 210 and I think the diet sodas actually help me to stay hydrated and not gain weight.
But I do agree with the statement that you still crave sweet stuff cause diet stuff doesn't satisfy that need.
By the way, I am a 64 yr old man in moderately good health except for high blood pressure and diabetes.
But I wonder why u would present 3 studies warning about drinking diet soda and not present the opposing views... to me I always find that kind of information suspect. I have learned that there are people and organizations that profit from writing bad reviews about products... I prefer information sources that tell it all.
sincerely

Editor Note: Thank you for the comments. I would mention a couple of items. If the diet soda you drink has caffeine, this may be why you feel dehydrated. Some studies show that caffeine acts as a diuretic, meaning you lose excess fluid. Everyone is different, but you may want to consider this.
As far as the integrity of the article, I think you are a bit off base. It is not intended to give all points of view. It is only intended to cover those studies and be a jumping off point for further discussion with your doctor. I find it odd you think I am somehow profiting from the article. Where is the money making angle here? Please tell me because I could use the extra cash!!
