Dying of thirst - Really High Blood Sugar
by Jamie

The very day I was diagnosed it was 840. I walked in to the doctors office and after my reading he said I don't see how you are not in a coma!
Well since then I have had readings in the 900's and did go into coma! I was at work and was so thirsty I was almost in tears. I didn't know that I had diabetes so I was drinking anything I could get my hands on which was making it worse. I noticed i couldn't read my forms at work.
On break I called my doctor and he said to come in when I got off work. After telling him my symptoms he said he thought it was diabetes. I said no way. I weighed 106 pounds, was active, etc.
Well he was right and I have been on insulin ever since. I am considered a brittle diabetic. I have been in ICU 5 times for ketoacidosis. It sucks.
