Frustrated With Paradigm Insulin Pump

After using a Paradigm pump for 5 years (and another manufacturer's for 9 years prior), I am seriously considering going back to my first pump company.

Customer service has been great; friendly, helpful, etc. But WITHOUT FAIL, approximately every calendar yr (12 mo), the pump "dies" ; quits working entirely and I'm left to taking injections until a new one arrives. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!! With all the technological advances we've made, and continue to make, it astounds me that Medtronic can't improve and repair this major flaw!

Why?!? Is it a marketing ploy to ensure income flow as users like myself have to continue to purchase additional, extended warranties (to the tune of over $1000, mind you), or what?

Why not simply send out an additional/supplemental pump with the original purchase to act as backup while yours is REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO YOU?

FYI, Medtronic does not offer this. No repairs, just a different pump. Which is great, until it happens again . . . and again, until your warranty is void and you must pay more $$ for faulty manufacturing.

Bottom line, when it works, it's great. I've appreciated many of the features it offers. But when your pump quits working suddenly (without warning, mind you), and it will, it's horrid.
