I love my omnipod!

by Mike Burke
(Howell, NJ)

I have been on the omnipod for a month now, and it is absolutely great! I disagree with most of the disadvantages listed in the above article.

The adhesive has proven to be very effective at holding the pod on in my case. I am very active as well, skating, skiing, surfing, biking, etc... I have not had the opportunity to test it in all these situations yet, but I have had no adhesion problems to date. I plan to use sealtight or a similar product when I am really pushing the limits, and I don't see having to use extra adhesive as a disadvantage.

As far as Insulet's customer service, and providing backup pods in a timely fashion.... what are you doing without any backups in the first place? This is your life, and your responsibility. ALWAYS keep at least a 10 pack of pods at home, and a couple of spares with you at all times. This is cutting edge technology, and failures are to be expected from time to time. I have not had any yet, but when it does happen, I will be prepared. It should not be Insulet's responsibility to be prepared for your lack of responsibility! And I am sure that they do their best to get replacements out as quickly as possible.

The freedom I have gained from my pump far surpasses any small glitches that may occur. If you are not willing to accept the responsibility of being prepared with a backup plan, then maybe pump therapy is not for you.
