Medtronic Insulin Pump? Not in This Lifetime!

by David VanDemark

In July 2011 I started my first pump a minimed 722, I went through the training done by my doctors office. The first month I had no problem, the second month was a different story. I had repeated problems with the infusion sets, lines would not prime, no insulin delivery with a different set. Finally I had blood glucose reading over 400 I then called Medtronic's help line and waited on hold 2 times over 1/2 hour each before being disconnected not talking to anyone. Finally I called at 5 am and got to talk to a person, she said this was the first time all night she didn't have 6 people holding. She talked me through a series of tests on the pump and came to the conclusion that the pump was working ok. I told her I had changed sites 5 times throughout this problem so I felt it was not my body but the pump. I have sense tried to get some form of refund or replacement without sucess. I went back to pens and my old regiment my blood sugars came down within a couple of days. Would I go back on a Medtronics pump? "HELL NO"
