My Mom (age 70) developed Pancreatitis around the first week of Dec. of this year. I did not find out until Dec. 7 when she had been unresponsive to phone calls til late that night. We found her in the bed, close to death. With aid of the County Police and EMS services, She was rushed to the ER where blood test confirmed a blood sugar reading of 1400.
She lapsed into a diabetic coma for 2 hours before pulling through.
She suffered Kidney damage, Heart damage and her pancreases developed a pseudo cyst as a result of the pancreatitis.
She made it through the first 24 hours and the doctors were astonished that she even lived to tell about it. At this time she is still recovering in ICU at a Long-term Acute Care Hospital. She was given a 50/50 chance.
