OK all you adult and adolecent TYPE 1's READ THIS******!!!!

HI there. My name is Heather. I have been type 1 diabetic since I was 19...and yes a little late for type one, but still possible! So try not to think...it couldn't happen to you- because it can! I have NO family history either! - I am a current Minimed Revel system with CGM. I hate the fact that I am hooked for life! With basal rates as high as 5 units per hour, I only last a few hours with out insulin before I am unconscious or am so out of it I cannot stand. However, I enjoy life and prefer to live in this world today, even though some days I just want to eat whatever I want and don't care.
My highest reading in ICU was 883. I felt drunk off my a**, but knew I was in good hands at the hospital I was in. And the weird thing was that I was NOT DKA! I have NEVER been DKA even with bg's over 600 multiple times - and expensive trips to the ER. (which they know me by name) During the episode of 883, I started taking the birth control "YAZ" on my 3rd day of taking it, I was in ICU. Now have you ever seen the commercials that came out AFTER it had been on the market for a while...well - all of you type 1 DO NOT TAKE YAZ!! and be careful on birth controls - they can mess with your endocrine system too! Same with my Hypothyroidism - IT WACKED IT OUT!! Levothyroxine 200mcg- ehich I am currently on.
Now not all of my high bg's are my fault! For being sick...a lot!, having severe resistances to insulin, and having to switch insulins due to my body rejecting the type of insulin, I am not totally accountable for. After a while of taking Humalog, I begin to resist it. It's like my body doesnt even notice that I bolused with a syringe of 90UNITS. It doesn't even phaze me at times, it's like pure saline going into me!Even with NO blood sugar drop! Scary huh? About every 90 days I have to switch insulins between Humalog, Novalog, Apidra Etc...I notice I start rejecting when I develop a rash all over my body - looks like chicken pox, but will reside after 2 weeks of antibiotics and changed insulins.****Has anyone ever experienced this before?
I admit not to leading the perfect life of eating EXACTLY WHAT I AM SUPPOSED TO....c'mon now - ice cream is my favorite food! And some days I just want to forget that I have diabetes and want so bad to live a normal lifestyle....Now with over 100,000 in medical debt, lost my house , car, and life, I am filing for bankruptcy and starting over... in a positive way. Trust me it's not easy!
I struggle to work Full Time, go to college Full Time, and as I should probably should put first, have Type 1 diabetes.
Has anyone had stories like I have?
Anyone have similar instances?
Anyone have ideas for me?
Well hope that this has given you hope and education in some degree, because everyday is a new learning process...good or bad!:) Happy Testing!! Don't forget to bolus!!:)
