Paradigm Pump - No Warning for Out of Insulin
Users should be warned that the 522 and 722 do not warn the user when they have run out of insulin. When the insulin is gone they simply stop functioning without a peep. There is a user-configurable low reservoir warning, but there are many scenarios where the user can miss that warning (a bolus that is larger than the remaining insulin and larger than the low reservoir warning level, a low reservoir warning dismissed in their sleep, etc.). When that happens (and it will sooner or later) they will have no alert that the insulin has run out and the pump has stopped functioning. They are then in serious danger of ending up in the emergency room with DKA if they don't notice in time.
