Pre Diabetes Symptoms

While there is an estimated 57 million people in the United States with pre diabetes, pre diabetes symptoms are very rare. In fact, most people never display any symptoms. The most common way people learn that they have pre diabetes is to have a blood test done.

Deciding whether to have the test done is usually based on whether one or more of the diabetes risk factors are present. These factors are:

  • Over 45 years old
  • Race or ethnic background (African American, Latin, Hispanic, Asian American, Pacific Islander)
  • Genetic History
  • Overweight
  • History of diabetes during pregnancy
  • Low Physical Activity
  • High Blood Pressure

Diagnosing pre-diabetes is VERY important.

Starting a proper diet and exercise program early, can reduce, even eliminate, your chance of developing type 2 diabetes.

Additionally, these factors can significantly reduce many of the complications from diabetes, such as cardiovascular disease.

If any of the risk factors are present in your life, do not hesitate to get tested!
