Worried Mom-Is the Spirit Pump the right pump for my son

Our 11 yr old son was diagnosed in 2007 & went on the pump in 2009, but he is so brittle we rarely are able to keep him in his target range-he very closely watched & supervised (I know- because of the lack of sleep I'm getting either up with him in DKA & throwing up or because I'm up doing finger sticks all during the night). He's very good about making sure to dose & pretty much knows the carb counting cold. I'm really wondering if the Spirit pump just isn't right for him. He's so often not in target range that when he is, he's THEN throwing up because his body just is not use to being in the right range. He's such a good kid, it kills us to see him go thru this. Any suggestions, ideas from pros would certainly be appreciated.
