Daily Inspiration! Girl with Type 1 Diabetes Wins White House Award

Diagnosed less than a year ago with type 1 diabetes, middle school student Megan Strehl recently won a trip to the White House. She was the Kentucky winner of the Epicurus Healthy Lunchtime Challenge.

This award is given to one child in each state who submits a recipe that promotes healthy eating. Megan’s submission was a healthier version of her family bran raisin muffin recipe.

Megan and the rest of the winners spent five hours at the White House, including a private tour. The culmination of the event was to have a lunch with the First Lady Michelle Obama. This is the second annual lunch the First Lady has had as part of her initiative to promote healthy eating.

Megan wants to be a child psychologist when she grows up to help children who have been diagnosed with health problems. Great Job Megan!
