This diabetic blueberry smoothie recipe is simply AWESOME! I drink one of these every morning for breakfast. It is super quick and easy to make. The other good aspect of this smoothie is that it uses protein powder that is not over loaded with sugar. If you use a different protein powder than recommended you will need to check the nutrition label closely to make sure there is not a lot of added sugar.
What is a lot of added sugar? Try and pick a protein powder with no more than 5 g of sugar, preferably less. The protein powder in this recipe has 2g of sugar. The remainder of the sugar in this smoothie comes primarily from the blueberries.
If you are a vegetarian, you can obviously substitute this whey protein for a soy based alternative.
